Silkie Hatch-A-Long 2015

I think I'm down to 3 eggs too! 2 look to have quit. I'm on day 26 so we may get our hatches on the same day. Maybe tomorrow or definitely Thursday!! Let me know as soon as you have action! I'm candling for internal pips!! Good luck!!

Come on Silkies... I have been waiting so long for you... and I can't wait to see what colors you are!

Hi all,
I have 3 silkie eggs in my small incubator right now, they are the only remaining eggs out of 7! It's day 16 today and this is my second attempt at hatching, my first eggs quit late, i believe due to very small air cells (looking back now they were about the size of a day 7 air cell!)
Even though i only have 3 eggs left this time around i'm super excited, i noticed the air cells were way too small again about a week into the incubation, and after some wonderful advice from people and forums here on backyardchickens i removed my humidity and the air cells are growing perfectly! Should i ramp the humidity back up for lockdown??

My eggs are from one of my lovely Silkie Buff hens, the only hen laying at the moment (it is winter here in Australia) and my very handsome Splash rooster, is there any way to tell what colour the chicks may be?

I think my humidity was a bit high for my current hatch so I am totally dry incubating my current batch. If air cells are still small you can just add water when eggs start to internally pip. In those last few days I notice the air cell shrinking even when the humidity is high for lockdown though.

Your chicks can come out a variety of different colours! Buff is a very dominant colour, so I would expect buff or buff mixed with other colours. All you can do now I just wait and see!

I have 6 eggs due to hatch on Tuesday, July 14th so I am hatching silkies too!! Mine will be mixed colours, mom is grey partidge, dad is a dark buff! I should get colours across the board!

Thank you Ruby... My internet was down... ug... anyway, the babies did fluff up on the second and third day... One of them however still has what I believe to be an attached dried egg yolk still attached to abdomen. Hopefully it will drop off soon.. At least that is what a aviary vet said on FB... Thank you for your concern and help.. Lord I love my Silkies!! And I hope to learn how to navigate BYC.. This place is amazing!

Thank you Lisa.. Samantha is now blocked off from the other hen and roo. I have water and crumbles for her if she needs it... I put her in a cover dog crate and block of part of the house.. The first seven or eight eggs are due this Saturday.. If they hatch out relatively close I will take the other eggs and put them in my bator. I have four silkies in a brooder now that came from the bator. I am quiet surprised as two of them don't appear to be white... Both hen and cock are white as their parent were also... I will attach a pic.. What color do you think they will be? This pic is from them at two days old and they are getting darker and the other two are staying the light yellow color..
Oops, I don't have permission to post pics??
Thank you for your input.. I am thrilled to be here at BYC.. This is one fantastic site and the people are so incredibly kind and helpful...

I started 8 patridge silkie eggs on July fourt. Went to my uncles for a fourth of July party ended up taking eggs home because I couldn't help myself :). I will be candling this weekend hoping for the best!

Greetings All.. Just want to celebrate the birth of my silkie Samantha's first chicks.. She has nine. Yes, I said nine wonderful little fluff-a-nutters last night and today! I wish I could post some pics but I don't have permission?? Can someone advise how I can post pics?? Thanks!!
