I've just had to re-home my two silkies, I bought them as hens however both turned out to be noisy little cockerels. I am looking to get another couple and came across this 10 week old gold girl for sale. Before I rush to buy her, could anyone please confirm from the pic if she is definitely is a hen? I don't think my neighbours would forgive a third cockerel! Thank you!!

It looks like it might be a hen, but I kinda suck at silkies, so get another opinion too. :]

I'd say cockerel. 10 weeks with that big of a comb and those prominent waddles.. yeah, that's my thought. Looks like he might have streamers in the head too.

X2 I wouldn't risk buying it.

I would guess cockerel. The comb looks kind of large for the age, and the crest isn't as puffy as many female Silkies. If you don't want a rooster, don't risk buying "it".

Silkie with wattles at that age = male. The seller should know that!
