Silkie hen has odd tick?

I had a silkie do this exact thing. We almost lost her. I ordered poly-vi-sol WITHOUT IRON (bc I couldn’t find it without iron ANYWHERE) and after one dose with a dropper, she snapped out of it. It’s a vitamin deficiency that causes Wry Neck! Hope this helps. I had tried everything nutri-drench, save-a-chick, etc.
Thank you so much!! I looked up a video of wry neck and that is exactly what it is! I'm ordering some of it right now.

Let us know how the vitamins help, and you can always use up to 400 IU of vitamin E daily.
Hello! When I went to order poly-vi-sol it told me that it would take 2 weeks to get here! So instead I went to the store and got the 400 IU Vitamin E. I’ve been giving it to her, along with some vitamin A, since Friday. How soon should she start to improve?

Vitamin A is not needed for wry neck (torticolis.) She is getting that in food. I would give a little spoonful of scrambled egg daily which has selenium, and a 1/2 spoonful of plain yogurt which has thiamine. One never knows how long wry neck will last, since it depends on the cause. I would give the vitamins for a lest 2 weeks though.

2 of the Silkies that I got from a hatchery and they had this too. I put in Rooster Booster and I guess its not to be given long term but it helped. If I notice any odd behavior I give them another dose. I also would pick up my hen every day and gently massage her neck. It seemed to relax her and she'd be fine for a little while until the vitamins kicked in. I got rid of all of my Silkie roosters because none of these birds should be bred either.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I seen a video of someone treating wry neck with E and A vitamins, but I will stop giving her the A. I will also start making scrambled eggs and get some yogurt. Thanks again!! :love

I'm interested why you say they shouldn't be bred together? Is it because they will pass these problems on? If so, I'm a little relived her eggs didn't make it, it would have been terrible to see them all have issues.

I’ve been giving her the vitamin E for almost 2 weeks now. She just now (the past 2-3 days maybe) stopped having a problem. Should I contribute to give the vitamin or should I stop now? Thanks!
