Silkie hen is desperately in need of an answer for her feather condition!

Our silkie is about 3 years old, and she has always had different feathers, but the state she is in right now is extremely worrisome. In fact, her sister sits with her all day and actually puts her underneath her wing when other chickens come near. I know she’s getting picked on. But this is much more than that. And she DOESNT have mites or lice! We have 15 chickens and all are extremely healthy.
Please could you let me know what I should do?

Where did you get her? If she was a sizzle, she might actually have been bred a frazzle. Frizzles have to be bred to a normal feathered mate. If two are bred together, any chicks with 2 frizzle gene have incredibly fragile feathers that just break and fall away

We got her from a nearby seller, I think my husband found them on Craigslist but it was only a mile away from our house. Unfortunately I wasn’t there when he purchased them, and I never have spoken to the lady who had them. I think it was definitely shady!! We have 3 silkies, and she’s the only one with feather problems and she’s always been so small!!

Keep an eye on her and treat any wounds she might get. Are you opposed to a house hen?

I wish we could have her inside, and I would t really be opposed to the idea except I think she is very much bonded with her silkie sister. I couldn’t separate them ☹🙁
