I have a nice little lot of silkies i got from the feed store. Have the most beautiful copper colored roo I ever saw, a plain white roo, two buff hens, 1 white hen, 1 black, and 1 blue splash. Blue splash girl I call Sweet Pea, she made a grand MGM production today over her 1st egg. She was pacing up and down and around and calling, calling, calling-no corner or box suited her. Went on for a good hour so i left to get something done with my day. Came out a little while later and shes raising a ruckus, still hadnt laid it, but had settled in a spot and was redecorating it with straw and scooping with her feet. Finally she LAYS HER LITTLE EGG. A long egg song ensued and shes still throwing straw over her back and settles in like she gonna sit on that egg till kingdom come. I left for a while and came back and see shes up about her chicken business. THAT was exhausting! They were all 6 mos old yesterday.
