silkie hen with raspy voice is she ok?

It sounds like she may be getting either a respiratory disease such as infectious bronchitis, MG, and others, or aspergillosis from fungus infection that can cause silent gasping and rapid breathing. If there is any mold or wet conditions, or poor ventilation, you may want to work on those conditions since others can be affected. Watch her for watery eyes, runny nose, rattles or wheezes, or facial swelling. Be aware that some large pullets can change voices or get deeper when they get older. Gapeworm could be a possibility, but respiratory disease is more common. Here is a good list of common respiratory diseases--look at MG, bronchitis, ILT, coryza, and aspergillosis: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

She's had pine shavings since she was a chick in her coop. Should I separate from flock? She's about 2 years old. I'm going to check and see how she is today around lunch time. :)

I would watch for other symptoms before separating--runny nose, watery eyes, any swelling around an eye or the face, chest rattles or wheezes, or sneezing. Even the weather could affect the voice. If she were sick, she would also probably be droopy and not eat well or have diarrhea.

i would but some people like to wait which i don't like the idea of normally by the time birds start showing that they are sick it's too late

She has watery eyes now.. I used vet rx in going to check on her again today. Tried to separate but she had a panic attack. So we put her back. I think I'm going to call the vet today. She was sneezing some too

Following this because we are having a similar issue with one of my one year old Easter Eggers.

She started wheezing yesterday afternoon, and sneezed or coughed twice, so we brought her inside and used Vet Rx. The she improved almost immediately, and only wheezed a tiny bit this morning, but we're still cautious. No watery eyes or snotty nose that we can see.

She was wormed three months ago, so I'm not thinking it's gape worm.
