Hello, I am new to this Forum I have had Silkies for 3 years now. other than the loss of some chicks and one death of a 7 month old hen (1 week ago) I have not dealt with any sickness to any of my hens. My 3 yr old Silkie hen has been loosing feathers around her face, they seem to go then come back all of a sudden. Recently she looks worse and even her beak seems to have some yellowish on it. One of my frizzled silkies has a tiny bit of loss of feathers to her face but not noticeable. My white silkie that was 7 months old died unexpectedly a week ago just dead no signs of sickness or anything. 2 of my now 4 hens are completely fine with no loss of feathers. My roosters that are kept in another coop section of the barn are fine. The hen that i think is sick seemed to be trying to get my attention when I came in to check on her today, still very active and not lethargic. I clean my coop every other month, a little less in the winter I use pine shavings, I have cleaned their water dishes very recently as well. I try to google these symptoms and nothing matches. Does anyone know whats wrong with her or if you suspect disease or parasites? My next step would to call a vet for assistance. Thank you.
