these are my first silkies.... I have had barred rocks in the past, years ago. very excited for some silkies though!!! lockdown thursday, how exciting!!!!

good luck! can't wait to hear the eggciting hatch news! I'm already planning a date to get my next batch of eggs in to hatch.... especially if I end up with one chick!!!

Oh I do so hope you get more than 1 chick! Our 3 out of 9, that hatched are 3 1/2 weeks now and doing great. We put a mirror in the bathtub with them and one keeps looking at itself, it even sleeps next to the mirror, so funny. Hope lockdown goes good for you!

i started out with barred rocks still have 2 roos as guard dogs. between them and the geese nothing comes in the yard without us knowing. lol. i plan on getting them some ladies this spring. i love my silkies. they are so gentle and calm. soft and pretty also i'll try to get some pics posted this weekend. hopefully will be posting baby pics too. i only have phone or ipod with internet and phone wont let me post pics on here so i ll have to try with ipod. or i suppose i could ask my daughter to help me. then she' ll think she knows all. lol

me too! I am candling again tomorrow night (day 8) so will hopefully see at least two of them, and then to make it to lockdown and hatch ok! no pressure... lol

can't WAIT to see baby pics!!!! super excited for you!!! hope all 11 come through great. I will post more info on the number I have growing on thursday.... candling wednesday night again (day 8). You are indeed well protected! I'm thinking of getting a few geese this summer also. not sure I will be brave enuf to try and hatch them or just get some little ones.... i'm gonna try and take egg pics tomorrow night too (well, maybe Egg pic, as in singular!) lol

that is too cute with the mirror also. i'm already planning my next attempt at hatching... feb 7th hoping to get some eggs shipped to me and start the following week then.... if I do end up with only one gotta get him/her buddies asap! might be doing your mirror trick also...

Ok, I have only one egg developing.

I am happy to have one, but sad is only one. odds against my little egg, ugh. i'm doing everything I can to hope it makes it through to the end!!! and it's a Buff!!!

Update- I'm down to 7 eggs now (out of 12). I chucked 4 clears after my first candling and 1 quitter after my second. The remaining eggs look good tho and I'm very excited to see the babies! 9 days to go, ugh

Don't feel bad. I'm down to 11 out of 30! Most were too shaken up from shipping, some were infertile and I had a few quitters. I have 3 more days until hatch day!
