Silkie is yawning non stop, help!

I don’t have the final results however I did receive this initial summary “The Brahma had a very severe egg yolk peritonitis that may be mixed up with some tumors but they will confirm the tumors with histopathology (looking at tissues under the microscope). The Silkie was not showing much except for thick bloody cecal cores which is usually associated with coccidiosis. I had to leave before they got further into looking at the organs of the Silkie. They both also had a lot of lice.”

I checked my entire flock tonight and can’t find any lice?! I sprayed them with Poultry Protector spray anyway..I’ve been reading everyone’s opinions on how to treat lice and I’m so very confused as to what’s safe and what’s not. I also am not sure if I should treat my entire flock for cocci yet, none of them are showing any signs.
It's good that you are starting to get some information, it will be interesting to see the final report.

I agree with @KikisGirls it won't hurt to start them on the Corid, it's mild and won't hurt them. You can use the Corid in conjunction with the Valbazen.

Permethrin is the best thing to use for lice/mites. Treat your flock and the housing. For lice, repeat a couple of times to kill any that hatch.

AFTER, you finish all your treatments (Corid and worming) offer probiotics/yogurt and poultry vitamins for a few days.

Hopefully you will get the results in soon, thank you for the update.

Are you familiar with Marek's disease?
The tumors may just be a sign of Marek's.
I am. I’m not going to jump to any conclusions, especially because I should have the full necropsy results soon. I didn’t notice any signs consistent with Mareks, no noticeable paralysis or eye changes. Prayers that it’s not Mareks.

Just finished cleaning out the entire coop, sprayed with Permethrin, sprayed my birds and started Corid. Still anxious for more detailed results, thank you everyone for your helpful insight and support. ❤️

Mark your calendar so you know when you started treatment and sprayed...it is so easy to forget.
(I know )

Ok great, I just wanted to through it out there just in case.
Hopefully it is not that.
:fl

What dosage Corid do you recommend, I’ve been reading lots of different ones..2 tsp per gallon of water for 7 days?

As for Permethrin, any tips on spraying your birds? I tried flipping them over gently and holding their feet but let’s just say that was extremely unsuccessful. I waited until night and they sat on their roosts while I sprayed them by their vents, under wings, chest and back of head. Just wondering if there’s any tricks out there

Also has anyone burned their bedding after a clean out? My coop is HUGE and the pile is significant. My husband is away for a military training and is worried I will burn the forest down but I don’t want to let it sit.

Sadly, I think I may have a bit of PTSD...when I see the chickens laying down in their run I am so scared they are dead

per the FDA and mfg:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...ol-ampromed-the-correct-amprolium-dose.73341/
Treatment20% Powder9.6% Liquid
For 3-5 days1.5 teaspoons per gallon2 teaspoons per gallon
then for 7-14 days1/3 teaspoon per gallon1/2 teaspoon per gallon

When treating coccidisosis in my own birds I use the 0.024% severe outbreak dose for 5 days, then the 0.006% amount for 7-14 days. Since I use the liquid, I use 2 teaspoons per gallon for five days, then 1/2 teaspoon for 7-14 days.

The FDA, FARAD, and the mfg's say this:
"Administer at 0.012% in drinking water as soon as coccidiosis is diagnosed and continue for 3 days to 5 days (in severe outbreaks, give 0.024%); continue with 0.006%
amprolium medicated water for an additional 1 week to 2 weeks. No other source of drinking water should be available to the birds during this time."
