Anything to worry about? My silkie was laying an egg and she got up when I opened up the nest boxes.
I saw an egg without a membrane or a shell. Just yolk and whites.

She had yolk and whites still dripping from her butt..

Then I saw her trying to push out the membrane from the shell-less egg…

I gave her some calcium.
Is there anything else I could or should do?

Any help is appreciated.

Give calcium citrate and an oral antibiotic to head off infection from the broken yolk. This is the type of calcium. Give one a day directly into her beak until her eggs are coming out with normal shells.

The antibiotic can often be found at Tractor Supply - amoxicillin labeled for fish, but it's for chickens, too. The dose is 250mg for an average chicken for ten days.

Is the membrane still hanging out of her vent? If it is, pull it out gently.

I would get her started on an antibiotic since the membrane broke and it looks like she may be leaking yolk.
Do you have any ABX on hand? What do you have?

I would get some extra calcium into her as well. 1 Caltrate with D3 (or store brand) once a day for 3-5 days.

Thanks. Will get that asap.

I don’t have any medication currently on hand.

What type of calcium did you give? I hope your hen will be ok, she’s so pretty! Azygous and Wyorp Rock have given you excellent information.
Crushed oyster shell. Will get proper medication as soon as I can.

Thank you all.
