Silkie Large Fowl

Her family wants to raise a nice large bird for eggs and I'm going to work on a cross breeding project next year as well so I may use one of her birds offspring. She's deciding between Australorp and Black Jersey Giant. She's trying to produce a very large fibro bird with black feathers, minimal to no comb, Silkie feathers and well formed polydactyly.

I think either one would be good.

My goal is less vulnerable to predators, good broody, & table bird. Talking about my Giant Silkie project.

Its pretty. I think the pedigree she divised would be to breed the f1 siblings and then breed the F2s but breed the F2 back to the Jersey Giant in order for more size and clean legs. Idk how big an F1 between a Silkie LF like the Chick you showed and a Jersey Giant would get but personally trying that may mess up what she did with her line breeding

She'd lose the Silkie Feathers if she does a back crossing to Jersey Giant, but crosses of the siblings should bring it back.

Should be fairly decent in size.

Yeah my concern is that if only half of the offspring would get the Silkie genes on both chromosomes she may end up with a half that have silkie feathers but poorer in the other qualities compared to the hard feather siblings. Im not personally familiar with the genetics of Fibromelanism, that F1 doesn't seem to have it. Is it determined by which parent was Fibromelanistic?

Fm is supposed to be dominant. But breeding Fm, male to non Fm female results in sex linked offspring, with males having either yellow, or white skin, depending on the hen used. That's why my F1, has yellow skin.

And if the hen is fibro and the Roo is not would both sexes be fibro?

All offspring are supposed to be fibro, but what I see with mine, 1 with patchy skin, 2 with pink skin, one with black skin.

So you would have to select for it. Im thinking of crossing Indio Gigantes with Ayam Cemanis to get the size and shape of the IG with the Ayams fibromelanism and larger thighs proportionally. I am thinking about making an F1B with the Indio Gigante and then breeding it back to the f2. The end goal is a heavier, shorter necked, Fibro Indio Gigante

Yeah except that it wouldn't get quite as tall. From what I've seen Malays are also more neck
