Silkie/Marans cross?? (PICS ADDED)

Well, 6 hatched. 4 black and 2 yellowish, brownish. sorta stripped. feathers on feet, all have 5 toes. Not anything in the line of crest showing yet, at least. I will try to get a picture, but they are feisty little rats. It is 100 degrees here, so I took them (and a couple other hatches) away from their moms and put them in a brooder.
Wish me luck on the pics. Will put in another post.

I have a hen, Earline, who I swear is half marans and half silkie. I was told she is a cuckoo marans BUT she has blue earlobes, feathers on her legs, was laying a smallish light brown egg and just finished being broody big time (like a silkie). Well! Since being broody, her eggs are now a very dark brown. Go figure! I was sooo happy! Hope you get all hens and dark brown eggs!

The five toes must be a dominant gene. All my Silkie/Phoenix crosses have 5 toes and dark feathered legs, but so far are all feathering out like a Phoenix. Will be interesting to see.

Okay, will see if I can post a pic. Here is one of the 2 light ones.

And one of the 4 black ones.

What do you think? Kinda cute, aren't they? But suspicious little devils when they see the camera!!

Thanks for the pic of yours, Cynthia, and for the comments from the rest. I was just looking, and realize apparently they all have the black skin, etc, also. Looks like a little of Maurice's buff color may show up on the first one.

They're beautiful, Judy! Only one of my girls has one feather on one foot, LOL. The other two are clean legged. Funny how the genes come out. Mine are also 4 toed and light skinned-guess the Cochin and Barred Rock trumped the Silkie in that regard.

You should call the stripped on Bandit! He looks awesome! I like the other two of course just not as much as BANDIT!! LoL

If the traits hold true at all i'm guessing the little black one is a girl.
It's great to see all the varaiety you can get from them.
Grats on the babies.
I'll be looking forward to seeing them progress

Bandit. That's cute. Okay, Bandit it is.
This black chick has a very tiny little white or yellow spot on top of it's head. The other 3 black ones don't, I don't believe. Wonder if that says anything about the sex?
