Silkie mix rooster crowing and layed an egg at 3 month so confused

I hatched 4 silkies on the 31st of may I had thought I had 2girls ( both dark ) and 2 boys(both white) as their combs and waddles came in really early on 2 and not the other 2 now I don't know what I have. I separated my 2 "boys" at night to help reduce the crowing which both do .went to let them out and had an egg what are your thoughts? They shouldn't even be having eggs for atleast 2 more month if not 4 months

I think so they were all supposed to be small silkies but only 1 has the feathering they are about a 1/3 the size of my other chickens

My first thought is that someone is playing a practical joke, or that another chicken sneaked in to lay the egg, or that the egg was there already but out of sight (maybe under bedding), so you didn't see it until morning.

I think any of those is more likely than one of those birds laying the egg (considering the age, the crowing, and the appearance of the birds.) I see that you hatched them and you know the date, so no question of having the age wrong.

If you've got two dog kennels or cat carriers or something, you can put each in a pen all alone and at least you will soon know which (if either) is laying the eggs.

I think they are silkie-mixes. No silkie feathers so certainly not pure silkie. Also some other traits are not right for a silkie.
