Thanks for the reply. He's mated with my black sex linked hen a couple of times so I'm curious to see her chicks.I don't think there is any way to know. Somewhere along the way he had non-silkie ancestors, but who knows when? Except for face and comb color, you wouldn't know he was anything other than a pure silkie.
Yeah, that will be interesting if you hatch some of those. Probably very pretty chicks would result. Thanks for the reply. He's mated with my black sex linked hen a couple of times so I'm curious to see her chicks.

Looks like a pure silkie to me. He just has a really bright red face is all.So I was wondering if anyone out there has a similar looking Roo? I bought this little guy 5 months ago thinking he was a Silkie. Obviously he a good amount of Silkie.View attachment 2359610 Does anyone have any idea what he may be crossed with? I would appreciate it.
Exactly.BTW, the gene for silkie feathering is recessive, so none of the chicks from that cross will have silkie type feathers.
His skin is yellow and is feet and beak aren't black like my 2 other silkies. But who knows. He's an aggressive little guy. He pecks my other male Silkie. The funny thing is the Silkie that gets pecked is a little bigger than he is. My guess is he hasn't matured as quickly.Looks like a pure silkie to me. He just has a really bright red face is all.
