I am a new silkie momma, too! I love them because they are so sweet and silly. I hope you enjoy your silkies as much as i do mine! :)

thank you! Aren't they such joys? They have been so funny to watch. They got one of my son's plum puffs yesterday and spent a good 5 minutes playing keep away from each other.
 
Welcome to BYC!! Silkies are definitely great brooders :) Two of mine were broody so I gave one chicks...then another went broody...it's contagious!...and man they are hard to break of it! I really enjoy them and may have to let the other two become mothers. Enjoy your chicks! :)

Yes, indeedy! I find myself smiling everytime I wander outside... And, I'm finding myself outside just to see them more and more these days! They're definitely a different breed! I've raised chickens before, but I never enjoyed them like I have these.

that makes me feel so good to hear! I've noticed too that it gives us another reason to be excited about going outside. We even added a bed of chickie favorites to our garden. :) I.can't wait to see them enjoy fresh spinach.

I would absolutely love for some if not all of the hens to go broody! I would love to hatch more silkies. I believe my mother in law already wants a mini flock of her own. I've read that they do great in little intimate chicken tractors for fertilizing the garden beds. We have already started assigning gender neutral names to the chicks we can definitely tell apart already. Though two of them I believe stand a little straight already and may be roos or wishful thinking on my part. ;)
