(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? No, I've been around chickens for most of my life. I ended up having to re-home my last flock as I was dealing with cancer, but now that I'm healthy enough I got 4 Silkies.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 4 silkies (white, black, partridge & blue splash), straight run so not sure of sex yet.
(3) What breeds do you have? Just Silkies but I've had Jersey Giants, red star, buff orps, leghorn, Easter eggers, Rhode island reds and others butI can't remember all.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? They are very calming for me. I love to watch their antics. This round is for pets only, don't care about the eggs just want to hang out with them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I like fishing, watching my kids in sports, reading, playing games and being with family. I don't like shopping unless its for books (or animals). I've traveled 8 hours to get my female Great Dane.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm happy married and have 2 sons. We have 3 Great Danes, 1 mix dog, 4 cats, fish and of course 4 silkies. I'm a stay at home mom and home school my youngest son. We are always busy, my calendar looks like a 2 yr old with a marker got a hold of it. But my favorite thing to do is just chill with my family around a camp fire.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I'm actually re-joining the community. I've know about BYC for 10+ years. Its my favorite place to get info on my particular chicks.
