My almsot 8 month old silkie still small has got poop caked into her feathers and we tried getting it out without hurting her and I've researched on the silkie bathing thing. I know she needs to stay inside for 2 days after the bath for her oils and stuff. I dont want to mess up on the bath bc it could harm her. Had anybody gave a silkie a bath before and could give me some tips on what and what not to do.

Yes. I just dabbed the poo with warm water, Got it soft, washed it out, snuggled her with her sister who also needed a bath and kept them warm. Then once dry they both got to go back outside in the sun. Everything was fine.

Its chilly over here a little but and was wondering if u gave her like a full bath or just damped the spots that needed it. How long did u keep them inside? Is it okay to put mine back in the cold when done.

I've given my 4 silkies baths, for pasty butt, and also for caked mud after thunderstorms. I fully submerged (up to neck) in a large bowl of warm water. Then I dry them off with a towel and blow dry them. I keep the blow dryer on hot/low and keep it about 9-12" away from them, while I run my fingers through their "feathers". They LOVE it. They love the warmth. Then I put them back outside once they are fully dry, and they're fine. If you're in a cooler climate, I see why you may want to keep them inside for a day or two.

Yes I heard that they need there pills if it rains keep them inside but it's not hot so I'm gonna keep her inside for a bit. Shes very skittish but feels safer when I hold her. It's hard to pick her up bc of her skittishness. What soap do you use and how much? Should I use the bathtub, sink, or large bowl? Shes very small so I dont want to risk anything.

I just used dog washing soap, but I bet baby shampoo would work too? It's up to you on what vessel you use! If she's small, doesn't seem like you'd need to use the bath tub.

I was thinking dawn dish soap but maybe TSC may have chicken or bird shampoo type of stuff. I may just use the sink bc I dont think shell be able to jump out of it mostly her feet and back with poop all over just need to get and I may keep her inside for one night.

I washed here with the sprayer. She was soaked. But once dry she was fine. I used dog shampoo. I don't use a hair dryer to dry her but some people do.

Update: got her in the sink and the water was up to her feet I wasnt thinking and turned the faucet on reallyyyy low but she jumped out onto the counter fine with me. We cleaned her up as much as we could and she was not soaked but wet enough to become dry. We cuddled and then got her in a dog cage with lots of towels and water and food to keep her warm and now she yells at me if I turn a light on. We are happily sleeping right now but I may say she starting to make my room smell like a chicken coop but I'm fine with it.😂thank you
