Do you plan on getting a necropsy just in case it would be Mareks? Sometimes stress can bring on symptoms. Hopefully it is not, but it might give you some answers. Georgia has good state poultry vet services I think. Basic necropsies can be very inexpensive for a backyard chicken.

I am so sorry...even when it's what's best it's not easy.

I definitely would suggest sending her to your state lab for a necropsy anytime you have a sudden, unexplained illness. Helps to know what you're dealing with if it happens to appear in your other birds.

Sorry about you pullet. You are doing the right thing for her, so that she doesn’t suffer. It is never an easy decision.

I think my biggest fear is it being something treatable. Like my husband and i just got home and she was trying to grip his fingers with her toes... i will probably take her to our local animal hospital, they'll take care of all of it for me. They don't charge anything for it either. Ill get home at about 12 tomorrow. So if she isn't better or if shes worse, ill have my husband put her down or take her to the vet to have them do it then theyll keep her body for tests.
