Make sure it is not clear tape. Painter's tape is less sticky and more gentle.

I believe medical tape would work well too, if you don't have painter's tape.
Medical tape/bandage actually has no adhesion - it sticks to itself. Completely safe for newborn chicks.

Okay then that's good too. I have only dealt with curled toes 3 times and have only used painter's tape in the past.
