Silkie Processing Video - WARNING

yeah, I'm glad I watched that while my tween and teen were at school. I was laughing and saying out loud "OMG!" My tot was running around in the background dancing and flying to Queen! I'm sending this to my husband!

Wow, great video man. Your producer did a great job! I loved it

The links in the sticky on the first page provide very good picture documentation of the evisceration process along with identification of the various internal organs. As fate would have it, we processed our surprise roo on Halloween - my DGF wrist deep in a chicken mitt, me calling instructions from the laptop and answering the door to trick-or-treaters. (she insisted I swear !)

Worked like a charm, and I'm fairly certain a video would move along a bit too quickly and I'm not sure you can capture the whole "curl your fingers upward, grab a handfull of innards and pull" on camera. However, and instructional video of "how to remove the smell of wet plucked chicken from your hands" might come in handy

I'm glad to see everyone is enjoying, or at least laughing at my video.

Next time I process a bird I will take a video of the entire process.

Just so everyone knows that silkie roo belonged to MoodusNewChick.
She gave it away to one family who returned it to her for being too
aggresive. It then went at several of her chickens. It was a nasty
roo. I think it's going to be made part of her MiniPin's diet this week.

That was only the third silkie roo I intentionally slaughtered. I had
to cull a few others when they were dying(not fun).

We processed turkeys the same day. They were sweethearts and
none of us were laughing when we swung the hatchet on them.

As for the smell you may have noticed I am wearing blue nypril gloves.
They are great and keep the smell off.

Credit is due to PerfectlyPolish for the production of that video.
She took an idiot chopping the head off a silkie and made it funny and
interesting.

This is something I would be VERY interested in, as well. I have not been able to find anyone to process birds for me and really want to raise meat birds. I have ALMOST convinced myself I could do it but am terrified I would "ruin" it somehow trying to take the insides out right.

Gutting is about the easiest part. Getting a good scald without
cooking or ripping the skin is the part I have the hardest time with.
My birds aren't pretty but they taste good.

Wish you was closer to give me some help in the future. I had a very aggressive BO roo that should have been processed. He is now in a home with lots of land where he is just fed and thats it.

I just let my 7yo watch it and now he can't wait to try it with some of ours!

He thinks your boy is very cool by the way PC!
