Silkie Prolapse - please help anyone!! im desperate ***UPDATE****

hey everyone... so yeah yesterday she went to the vet and well... today i go downstairs and she laid an egg.. how did the vet not see it on an x ray or feel it!!!!!!!!!! im so happy!!!!!!!

thanks everyone. she seems great!! i am a little ticked off at the vet tho because i brought her to the vet at 2:30pm on monday and he didnt feel an egg or see it on x ray ... so how is it that she laid it on tuesday morning and it wasn't shown or felt. i was really mad because my baby could have died from being egg bound... good thing she is a trooper!! :)

I don't know. She IS a trooper and so are you. I know this has been really stressful for you. I worry about my pets when anything is wrong, too. I hope you both feel better soon.

He didn't see the egg because the shell part is in the last act of putting the egg together. The calcium (which is what would show in the x-ray) does not "go on" the egg until shortly before it is expelled from the hen's body.
