Do females grow feathers in faster, longer than males or visa versa? I have 1 silkie chick who is 1 1/2 weeks old that his/her feathers are twice as long as my other two, all 3 are the same age. I was wondering if that was an indication of male or female

silkies are the hardest to tell. the rules change all the time. I still don't know what my buff is. It doesn't lay eggs or crow or try to breed or get bred. some you can tell. about the feathers I don't know. I can tell for sure untill the feathers on the neck grow in full. They will be long. good luck

I have never tried it but~~~ I heard that if you rub your finger across the comb and you feel a bump it is a roo. I had silkies I never heard of them until on here. The way I finally found out was they all started crowing LOL
