Silkie Question

I ordered Unicorn (the silkie) two new friends today! But they won't arrive until Feb and then they'll be too small to play with the big girls for quiet awhile. But, of course, on the day I placed the order she "flew" up to the low roost to hang out with her bestie. It had been pouring all day and she was so muddy- it was hilarious. I'm actually really glad she's all snuggled up tonight cause it is getting SUPER COLD for GA- into the 20s.
And as soon as I get a free minute and a willing victim to help me- she's getting a haircut!

That is cute! they will flutter up a tad, we have a little stick roost in the one pen and they sit there, it's quite cute.

That's awesome! I love silkies, I don't think there's anything bad about them! I'm also getting some more chicks in the spring, but ost likely, they'll be from my own flock

Hopefully, though, I will be able to get at least three chicks of a breed I don't have! I love my flock to be a variety =)

Has anyone else had smaller bantams choose to cuddle in the silkie pile rather than roost with the others? I have primarily silkies in my flock but have a few brahma bantams and Cochins mixed in as well and they all seem to want to pile instead of roost. Has anyone else had this happen?

I love variety too! I am not interested in breeding (at least not right now... who knows what the future holds!). So right now I have 1 RSL, 1 EE, 1 maran, 1 cochin, and 1 silkie. I just ordered 3 white leghorns, 3 EE, 2 buff orphingtons, 2 sliver laced wayndottes, 2 RSLs, and of course the 2 silkies!!!
I want an interesting looking backyard and and interesting looking egg basket!
Everybody cracks up when they see Unicorn. Most people who visit have zero chicken experience so they've never even seen a silkie.
Chickens are so much fun!
