silkie questions.... what color groups am I allowed to interbreed??

Blue/Black/Splash. Those are the only colors you can breed together.

You can also do black and lavendar, but all of that is too confusing for me.

my friend puts splash and buff together to get a lighter colored buff......

You could do buff to blue or splash to lighten the black in the tail of most buffs to blue.
Blue,Black and splash are able to be mixed. Are you planning on showing? If not then you can mix anything you want.
