Silkie roo or pullet?

The 3 you have pictures of are all cockerels.

I know how you feel. Got 9 days-old chicks earlier this year, ALL 9 were cockerels. Ugh! I should get some eggs. Even I can manage to hatch at least one pullet.

I have a batch of 4 silkies that are now 4 months old. When they were 6-8 weeks old, I had a horrible suspicion that all 4 were boys due to how their crests were growing in, the size of the feet on some of them, etc. Now they are 4 months I am quite certain I have 3 pullets and only 1 cockerel. I have only seen the photos you have uploaded so i can only comment on the 3 birds pictured, but so far you look to have only 2 roos for certain. You could post photos of the rest of the chicks here for us to have a look at if you like.

May be a bit early to ask...but can anyone give any advice to if they think this is a roo or pullet? My wife will be heartbroken if a roo since we can't keep a "him". Thanks in advance! We're guessing 6 weeks old? Her name is Loretta....hopefully not Lorenzo!?

Curious, who turned out to be a roo and who a hen?

I just got my first ever chicks 4 weeks ago on Thirsday, and I've been hawkeyeing my silkies for early detection of gender. I wanted at least 1 hen, so I got 4 chicks. I also got 4 mille fleur d'Uccles, and of those, 2 are looking like roos and 2 like little hens, but the silkies are so hard to tell! I'm really trying to distinguish differences between the silkies in comb width and length, but having a hard time. Maybe in another 2 weeks it will become clearer.

Beautiful birds, BTW! Do you have any updated pics to share? :-D
