This little guy/gal was pretty viciously attacked a month ago by two hens (I learned my lesson mixing sizes!). Basically spent several weeks recovering a crushed foot and large side wound so growth has been stunted during that process. Happy healthy growing chicken now. Pretty sure our pullet Frankie is more likely a roo destined to be Frankenstein lol. What’s the vote? She’s got the bump on her head and really frazzled tail and plume feathers. And lots of leg fur compared to our other silkies.

This little one has been picked on by the other pullets too. Maybe they are all training him to be a gentleman?

Anyway curious what everyone’s vote is on gender. Thanks!

Welcome to BYC! :frow

Mixing of sizes isn't an issue (aside possibly from rooster mating bantam hens).

What you describe sounds more like improper introduction procedure.

What is the age and feed routine?
Thanks! Yes I was referring to letting the littles be unsupervised so soon after meeting the big hens. It happened about a week after introductions. Two of my older road island reds attacked her early in the morning before I let them out into the larger run.

Age I can only estimate 8-10 weeks maybe? I got her 5 weeks ago. She or he hasn’t grown much with the wound recovery going on. But she was in the smaller younger pullet run where we got her. I’ve gotten probably 12 pullets from this woman before, she’s very good at sexing. This one I’m not so sure about.

I put fresh feed out every morning for the day. They have a large shaded run with multiple feeders and waterers. Currently this one and the other little silkie have their own bunk within the run that they stay in unless I’m out there. Trying to let them meet again with the playpen method over the last week.

This little one still gets picked at when I do supervised visits.
