I have 23 week old silkies. Of course I don’t know which ones are hens and which are not. My question is, in months to come how many Roos can I keep without causing trouble in the coop?

1 roo per 10 hens is an estimate I always find safe. Sometimes they can do less, sometimes they need more. It really depends on the kind of Roos you end up with.

That's a problem you'll have to work through because, as one of our regulars always says, "Roosters are where the romance meets the reality."

If these are your first chickens an all-hen flock is highly recommended. Even moreso if you have young children living in or visiting your home.

Roosters, and especially hormonal cockerels who fight, harass the girls, and may turn aggressive against humans, take special handling to ensure peace in the flock and safety for the keepers.
