I have a 1 year old Silkie rooster named Ollie. I bought him from a good line of Silkies with the hope of taking him to shows and using him as a breeder, but have noticed some things that aren't lining up.
He was sold to me as a partridge, but in a separate post someone noticed he does not have a solid black chest. Does anyone know if he is a different color or just a mix of colors?
He also has an odd looking comb for his breed, and I was wondering if it is just an odd walnut comb or a defect.
Thanks to anyone who reads this or replies:)

Hi,
I have a well bred partridge silkie and that definitely isn't a partridge. And unfortunately I am pretty positive that it is a mix of colors because silkies only come in 7different colors and that doesn't look like any of them. It's most likely a mix of buff and partridge.

All silkies are cuties! I am relatively new to silkies (and chickens in general)... But have done tons of research as we are hoping to show a bit as well. I agree with Effie above, he appears to be a buff/partridge mix. His comb seems a bit big, and ideally should be darker. Would not consider him show/breeder quality, but regardless, silkie roos are awesome! So much personality and so sweet! My two year old can catch and carry around almost all of my roos! Hopefully he can still have a place as a sweet pet!

That's what I though:( Oh well, thanks for the reply.

Oh yes! We have had lots of unique chickens throughout the years and we let them all live out their lives with us. This little guy is the sweetest and funniest and he will not be going anywhere:). We might still take him to 4-H events for kids to look at and pet since he is so gentle. That's cute your two year old catches your roos:) I fell in love with chickens when I was seven, they are such a great pet for children.

Where are you located? My girls are interested in 4-h for little shows etc., but haven't had luck finding anything close. We have a few "show prospects" from Florida (most of which are not going to be show/breeder quality) and some local/hatchery babies. We love them all, but only a few are close to breed standard... One of my kids 5-6 month old sweeties that we may try little shows/fairs with is below - was supposed to be a pullet, but "she" great up and started crowing... Not perfect, but pretty cute.

Cute Silkie though! We are located in western Washington. I hope you can find a 4-H group to join, it is a really great experience for kids. Most county and state fairs have 4-H and if you can't find 4-H there is always open class where you just bring your birds and they are judged them.

Ha! Western Washington is about as far as can be from us and stay in Continental US.... We're in NC... I'll definitely look a little harder for 4-H... I'm sure the kids would have a blast!
