Silkie setting

I have a young silkie setting. I have never had chickens that I could control their hatching. My other hen that is setting gets off the nest when I take treats to the others but the Silkie doesn't. I tryed to force her to get off the nest to eat and drink but she just runs back to the nest. Is this normal? Help for the novice. Barb

I do know that Silkies are the perfect mothers and will sit at every opportunity, including sometimes the males!

Yep...I have a silkie rooster that sits on the golf ball in one of the nests! And to think we named him "Hemingway" !!

He will get off for treats, etc....but he keeps that golf ball warm quite a bit.

When she gets hungry or thirsy enough, she will get off the nest!
