If "she" is in fact a "he" is it safe to keep the 2 together?

They're non bearded. If they were cockerels, I'd expect their combs and wattles to be bigger, especially on the one with the (improper) single comb. I dont see any streamers either. I think they're both pullets

I was under the impression silkies had walnut combs... I'm thinking we have a mix of some sort

Hatchery silkies occasionally have an incorrect (single) comb. We have a white hen with a single comb from Ideal.

I think both are pullets.
