silkie sexing

They are do pretty and such great personalities! I have 2 white and a partridge and I live near other people so I won't be able to keep the roos!! But neither do I want any to be culled!!! I have just integrated them along side a mottled Cochin, and 2 chocolate orpingtons with my RIR's and leg horn and they all get along so well!! I am so lucky as RIR have a bad reputation but mine are just so adorable :) so I'm desperate to sex ASAP so I can swap for female as don't want to mess up the order I have there at the moment :)

yeah, I had 2 RIR's, lost one to ??? she just disappeared without a trace... and they were the bossiest of the flock. now that I only have the 1, she's mellowed considerably.

Oh I am sorry to hear that :( I got my girls a new house a pink one :) but my bigger ladies think it's for them so they stay guard of it in the evenings and stop the little ones from going in so I have to go out there and take the big ones to their coop... It's quit funny to watch from the window

that little pink coop is adorable! I've been very fortunate with integrating new flock members, and keeping bantams with large fowl. I certainly see the order they keep, but even the bossiest is not a feather puller (phew!) and I am highly amused by the relationship that has developed between my tiny Silkie and Tiger, a very large and bossy EE hen who chases everyone... Tiger seems to have adopted her as her own. and won't let anyone peck at her - she stands guard while Silkie preens, and she's right next to her while she eats and drinks, so she is always undisturbed. over the months, the whole flock has come to regard tiny Silkie as one of the leaders. I really thought that was impossible - Silkie is a third of their size, and is not laying yet. but ... it's a fact.

Ah how cute!!! I'm desperate for mine to either lay or crow! Mine at 17 weeks... Some people say non of that might not even happen until 10 months old :(( but I'm sure if I have a couple of roos out there, there would be a lot if squabbling right? I'm just hoping I'm the only male in the flock :)
