silkie sexing

I just bought this one(my first silkies), along with one that is for sure a Roo. I thought i was getting two roos which was what i was told. When i brought them home my hubby swore this one was a hen. The other like i said is for sure a roo. They are supposed to be 10 - 12 mos old.

I can get more pics if needed. The other one has large gills.

Looks like a roo to me. Pretty sure those are streamers!

Do all silkie roos have spurs? The other roo has small starts of spurs but none on this guy
They do yes, but I've read that it can take at least a year for them to develop. But honestly I'm new to silkies and I just enjoy the guessing game of sexing them. I hope someone with more experience chimes in!

I have 4 little chicks that I'm really falling in love with! They are such sweeties. They come when called and will nap in my lap. Its going to be heartbreaking discovering which ones are roos so I've been looking for any and all signs now. If I didn't live in the city I'd keep them all. Its hard not to get attached. They're hilarious and lovable!

I have a soft spot for furry footed bantams!

100% rooster. Big red comb and streamers are a dead giveaway. Think of spurs as a bit like the horns of cattle. Young calves have only horn buds, but bulls have a large set of horns. So it is with young roosters. Small spur buds at first, which become large spurs the older he becomes.

Is he a bearded silkie? The other one doesnt have all those feathers under his face, he has big floppy bald gills lol
