silkie sexing

Any opinions on Roo or pullet? She's a scrapper and tries taking on the birds that are much bigger than her which makes me suspicious that she might be an Edward Alan!!! Oh, and she's six weeks old.

How old? And do you have any full body/comb shots? She/he may still be too young to sex.

Quote: She's about six weeks old. I edited my post to get all the photos showing up. Hopefully they will help. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a video on YouTube so that I can link it to my post. I have some good footage of her trying to take on an australorp three times her size. I don't think she knows she's the smallest hen I the coop!

Right now Id say pullet but she's still very young so its pretty early to sex. Post another pic in a few weeks!

Here's one of my little silkies, Dumpling. Not sure on the age. Any gender thoughts? Thanks!

Sorry for the bad pictures, I just used my phone.

Right now it's so early to guess but I think marshmallow is a pullet and disco maybe a roo. I'm leaning towards s'more being a pullet but really don't know. Not sure on jazz at all. If you can update with pics in a few weeks you will probably be able to get more accurate guesses. Until then I would watch for roo like behavior as well as stance. My silkie cockerels have carried themselves like little roosters long before I could positively sex them.

Alright I will post more in a couple weeks. I've been thinking the white one was definitely a girl. I think one is for sure a roo because I believe I'm starting to hear a
crow but I can not figure out who it is. Thank you for guessing! Do you have any information about what a roo stance looks like? And what types of behaviors I might look for?

Wow a little crower already??? That's impressive! What I mean by rooster stance is a chick that seems to stand taller than the rest and appears more on the lookout than others. (Look at the black ones in your group pic)They also tend to be the chicks most likely to approach you. Almost all my pullets have been timid and stayed low. Some folks say chest bumping is something to watch for but almost all my girls do it at times though the boys do indeed have mini fights more often.
Have fun watching them! I love the guessing game!
