I know that it is probably way too early to tell... But any guesses on this 8 week old baby?

That comb is kinda big. I'm going to guess it's a cockerel
Hi,
I know it might be a bit soon to ask, but I thought I throw in some pics for a guessing game anyhow. My two silkies are about 5 ½ weeks on these pics. I hope for them both to be girls as we can't keep roosters and I don't quite know what to do if only one of them is a roo and needs to go (I know we can't keep just one sigle chicken but I'll harass you all with questions on how to best introduce a new companion when I come to it)
Also can somebody tell me what colour the dark one is? When it was young it was black but the older it gets the more brown fluff comes through?
They both like to chestbump and chase each other every now and then but I guess girls do that too (pleaaase tell me I'm right).
OK, here is Silkie No. 1 (Tiffy)
And this is No. 2 (Emu)
And here are the two together
I have to admit that I have no hunch whatsoever with the white one, the dark one always was a he for me, somehow mainly because of his overall behavoiur. It is hard to get a good pic of him as he is racing around contantly popping his head up and down etc. But I'd love to be proven wrong here.
They both have developed quite a bit since these were taken, I will make some more pics over the coming weekend and keep you updated, however would take your educated guesses for now.
Cheers Trish
Hi Adorkable,I'm no expert and I hope I'm wrong here, but they both look like little cockerels to me.![]()
I'm gonna guess your brown one (partridge I think) is a pullet. Not sure on the other. Newer pictures would be great as silkies can change so much in such a short amount of time. And my 2 sizzle hens LOVE to chest bump. It's how they say hi every morning!Hi, I know it might be a bit soon to ask, but I thought I throw in some pics for a guessing game anyhow. That's what I was thinking too. That comb is kinda big. I'm going to guess it's a cockerel
I think you have a pullet but another picture would help, specifically a closer side view.
Im going to guess Roo on this one. He/she (Im no expert) is beautiful. I love those colors!

You should post again in another 3 weeks. They may be easier to sex then. Good luck with em.
