Just looking for guesses. Educated guesses are even better. This little stinker kind of drives me crazy. He is the most beautiful color and is one of two that I'm hanging on to to see just what he turns into. From about day 3 I thought he was a cockerel. A little bigger. A little more aggressive with food and such. Opinions? Thoughts on silkie chick number two are great also.
Body really looks cockerel-ishAny guesses on this one? We have two white silkies but couldn't get good shots of the second. This one is timid whereas the other one does lots of chest bumping with the barred rock cockerels. Of course we are hoping this is a pullet!
Six weeks:
What lovely coloring!
If you're thinking cock as young as 3 days, I'd go with your gut over outside opinion, honestly. From the pics, it's a bit hard to tell. If it's the same age but bigger than the darker chick, that's a good (but certainly not definite) sign of cockeral.
Hey, isn't it better to find out your "cock" is a pullet, than your pullet a cock?Hahaha!! Well, I trust my gut but I have an EE here that I was 110% sure it was a rooster and it's ended up a hen. Also, a few days ago I picked up the tan silkie and when she looked at me I thought "girl". She had girl eyes?! Maybe I'm crazy. LOL!!!
I'm so hoping you're wrong but I may just be in denial. Here's a collage. This comb really widened. No real waddles to speak of though. Our other white silkie has a wacky single comb.Body really looks cockerel-ishBut nothing's for certain w/ silkies until several months, typically.
