silkie sexing

@Sika Sievers
Buff 1 has such a small narrow comb. She looks looks like a she to me. (same for black 2)

White 2 has a very wide comb & Buff2 has a slight bump. They would be my best guesses at males, but too young to really know.

The last 2 do not show gender either way.

I'm far from a silkie expert, so remember these are my guesses.

Good luck & please repost new pics in a couple more weeks.

She looks pretty girlish to me. Our DD has a black one just like it.
My biggest warning is that silkies become very spoiled birds.

Hi friends! I'm wondering if I've got a roo or a hen here. Approx 4.5 months old!

What did this silkie end up being, a hen or rooster? I have a silkie, "Han Solo" that is about 4-5 months old and looks almost identical, he/she has not crowed yet but we assumed rooster because of the comb and waddles...

This is my smooth silkie (I believe she's a silkie-Cochin cross)

We got her from an experienced breeder who was fairly certain she is female (judging mostly by behavior)

She's about 10 weeks old now.

Note, the feather poofs on the top of her head here aren't streamers - it's bits of down clinging to the tips of her new pin feathers, which just started growing in. I've been keeping an eye for streamers, but I think it's too early to tell, as the adult feathers are still sheathed.

Here's her at 8 weeks:

She has 3 prongs on the top of her comb, and her skin is white. Not sure if that's relevant!
