Wicked chickee the one on right looks roo but I can't see the one on the lefts comb. It doesn't look like it protrudes at all. Perhaps better pics would help.
Sadly my 2 males both crow like mad at each other. Loud but not aggressive. Only a danger to your ears. Thanks for your response! In the week or so it's been since I took this picture, the silkie in question has grown obnoxiously large, mulberry wattles and a huge comb lol. I guess I was just super lucky that BOTH turned out to be roosters...sigh. As of now they are the best of friends and inseparable. Does anyone have any insight as to how their behavior will change towards each other as they reach adulthood? They live with six slightly older BO pullets who tolerate them but just barely. Will the pullets eventually recognize them as roosters and allow them to perform their "manly duties," lol? Any insight would be greatly appreciated...
Cute. Looks like a boy face to me.
I was curious about the same general idea. Although mine is more like 14 weeks and a silkie..something. It has the blue ear lobes of a silkie and the five toes on one foot with both feet being feathered. The eyes look silkie too although the body is...odd. It's just had it's wattles starting to really come in though it hasn't tried to crow and doesn't really have a cock stance.Would wattles starting on a 12 week old silkie make you think cockerel?
Does anyone know if it's male from these pictures? It's color is so weird too. Lavender with a buff chest and some random black feathers. It's clearly a mutt bird of different breeds. But if it's male it will have to also get rehomed or processed for dinner. Any input is appreciated. Including what age silkies generally develop wattles and the fat combs on their faces if they are male. It doesn't have much if any of a comb on it's face yet.
