silkie sexing

I wasn't offended by the comment. I was just saying that I personally don't care about her wattles, where most people probably would. Sometimes my straight forward way of talking/typing seems to have an offended tone to it, maybe?

But yeah, Yvonne's could probably go either way, in my opinion. May not know until you either get an egg or a crow.

Thanks guys! I think your right about me having to wait for a crow or eggs, oh well :))

i picked up 2 black and 2 white silkies at 2 weeks old. they are 6 weeks old now. it looks like one white and one black are going to be roos. they have a little bit more comb on their beaks and have more of a mohawk head where the suspected hens have round poof ball heads and virtually no comb on their beaks. i can tell a big weight difference between the 2 black chicks with the mohawked chick being heavier. i'm all new to chickens in general so any help identifying would be great. i live in the city so i have to cull any roos.

here's all four

here's the 2 i suspect are roos

here's a good pic of the 2 white chicks with the suspected roo in the back

i suspect this is a hen. the black chicks don't show up too well in these pics

here's a rear pic of the white hen and front of the white suspected roo.

Kmw,

!!

he sure looks like a "he" to me...! I like his looks... the grabbing on to neck feathers is an attempt at mating, younger cockerels aren't always very graceful early on, but they learn how to entice the hens to squat for them eventually without being so grabby (at least most do) hopefully he'll learn to dance for them soon. how old is he?
would love to see some individual pics of your other birds!
