silkie sexing

I have to say my 8 month old black silkie has started " charging" at me when I approach his hens , guess I was right about him!! He had a few head ribbons at 7 months .

I've posted this one on here before and I got most likely pullet. Just want to make sure and be reassured that these aren't streamers! "She's" 21 weeks old.

Watch the comb development, but it looks like a pullet so far. My silkies pullets had a bit of fluff like that too. I was so confused

Just bought this little silkie today.

I'm hoping it's a hen but I'm thinking it's a roo.. someone told me that if the wings are short long short long it's a hen. This ines are short long short long so hopefully

I am no expert, but I will guess pullet from the way she holds herself. The thing about wing feathers being short/long is probably referring to day old chicks of certain breeds that can be sexed by looking at the wing feather tips growing in.

I've heard that silkies mature slow.. Onyx is 28 weeks old and has yet to lay an egg.. She is supposed to be a hen and since she hasn't crowed, I'm still assuming she's a girl.. she has no interest in being part of the flock. My husband seems to think she has chicken PTSD, because a coon or opossum got into the coop and ate 5 of her friends when she was 12 weeks old.... I have seen my white silkie roo mount her, but most of the time she gets away. Over the last two weeks her waddles have gotten huge. Please tell me she's a girl..
