silkie sexing

This is my smooth silkie (I believe she's a silkie-Cochin cross)

We got her from an experienced breeder who was fairly certain she is female (judging mostly by behavior)

She's about 10 weeks old now.

Note, the feather poofs on the top of her head here aren't streamers - it's bits of down clinging to the tips of her new pin feathers, which just started growing in. I've been keeping an eye for streamers, but I think it's too early to tell, as the adult feathers are still sheathed.

She has 3 prongs on the top of her comb, and her skin is white. Not sure if that's relevant!

That’s a cockerel. How old was he when you bought him? Because at 8 weeks he looks like a male also.

Awe really? We got *her* at 4 weeks.

I think we'll just pretend she's a she...we've been through a lot with her, and she's a house pet. Might be time to explore rooster collars!

Well guess who started crowing this morning??? He also has those feathers on the back of his head sticking out towards his tail. He is also bigger then the light gray one at this point. I tried to post more recent pics but my phone won't sync with my computer...

Not sure if the HOA will let me keep this guy, I sure hope so. I love him!

I was told the light gray silkie was most likely the cockerel.....Maybe he is????.....

I'd say both hens. Dark one doesn't gave long neck feathers at all

They both look female to me because of the nice rounded crests.
