Yes. I'd say almost 95% a male. Big crest and waffles forming. He is sure beautiful though. I love that color. I have 5 silkie roosters. 2 are with my flock of 10 hens and they get along great both with different jobs to do for the flock. Three of my roosters I had to make a bachelor pad for because 5 was too many for my 10 hens. They weren't fighting each other but my hens were being run ragged. It was sad to watch them running for their lives all the time haha. But the three roosters get along great with no hens around!

Wattles*

Thank you! I was hoping for a hen though as we got 2 and the other started crowing this morning
Don't give up just yet. It could do a 360 and all of a sudden be a hen. Haha they are surprising sometimes. I ordered 6 from cackle and 3 turned out to be male. I ended up going and finding some silkies from a local breeder in hopes of evening out the ratio and got 7 more. Two of them turned out to be roosters. I was freaking out but i built a really simple coop for the roosters to have a bachelor pad and they do great together

Yea I think it looks more male from what I’ve researched however it’s brother has spurs already and tail feathers stick up more than this ones. There quite hard to tell apart

It looks male-ish to me.

Crest is not as rounded.
Has dark, dropping wattles (My females were all bearded, so I never had any wattles.)
The color is not uniform. * This is the trait that helped me the most since mine were blue, black, splash. Most females have a very even, uniform color but the males often have darker wings.

What do you call that color? It's very pretty.

These two babies are 5.5 weeks old and the white one is a good bit bigger than the other which I'm not sure is a buff bc it has black coming up on tips of wing feathers . Also the white one usually stands up much more erect and also much more laid back and calm . I'm hoping at least to have one pullet out of the two but I know it's still much too early to tell for sure . Just thought maybe someone could see some thing . The white ones feathers part alot more where comb will be then the other so not sure if that is any indication of male or female . Any ideas ???

Good News: There are no signs yet that they're male.
Bad News: Silkies are very tough to sex, so at only 5.5 weeks, it doesn't mean much yet.

Try posting again at 10 weeks & hopefully they'll still look female. I've heard of some cases where a silkie's gender could not be determined until crow or egg. Hopefully yours will be easier.
