Silkie Splash Ameraucanas

if you do want to increase your genetic diversity you can hatch some from the black ameraucana and the silkie roo, then cross those pullets(all smooth feathered) back to dad. You should get 50% silkied and the other 50% should carry the silkie gene. Since the F1 will be all blue, when you cross back to dad you may end up with some blue silkied. But you will need to hatch a LOT

of course all this is dependant on whether silkie is recessive, will need to go look that up

eta- OR you could send me some of those eggs (silkiexsilkie) and I will cross them with my black ameraucana

Yes, that what I understood, too. My biggest problem is that I don't have room to hatch and house that many chickens.

I need more land! What's a chicken lover to do??? Oh My!

Oh - I plan to send out some eggs once Harriet starts laying again. I would love to get you guys to do some experimenting with me. We could start a whole new breed!

I have BBS Ameraucana.... send me some eggs and in a couple of years I'll send YOU some eggs back! LOL I know... that's a long time to wait...LOL But seriously... when I get done with this hatch... if you want to sell me some eggs... I'd be happy to send you some once they grow up and start breeding with my BBS... oh der... it would only be a year

Definitely - Would love to try and see if we could get some blue or black silkie ameraucanas. I know it would take some time, but would be sooooo cool!

I would still love to know if the breeder got more of these.....did you ever find out from her?
