Silkie staying inside all day.

I
When you say wet bottom, do you mean wet with water or loose runny stool?
I am assuming stool. I picked her up and set her outside. When she was running around, I noticed her butt was scraggly. I took her inside and it was damp but also stiff in places. Her vent appeared to be fine.

Is she getting much exercise? Broodys tend to eat less and those 'large' broody poops tend to get smaller the longer they brood. If they aren't getting off the nest much, this can lead to a bit of muscle weakness and runny stools (after several weeks), but it may be good to throw up pics here as well so the community can weigh in.

I have been putting her out 3 to 4 times a day. She eats and drinks. Runs around because the others chase her. Then she goes right back in. She almost always has eggs under her but stays in there even without eggs. This just started last week and she definitely is not getting enough exercise.

I will take pictures tomorrow if it is nasty again. Thank you.

I am pretty sure its stool. She is wet again and lots of poop under her. Yesterday, the eggs were stained but not crusty. The nest looked clean but it must have been loose stool . Today the one egg is nasty from all the poo under her. I'm headed out to clean out both the hutch and the deep freeze and run. I had straw in the hutch, because I was using it until I was sure I had the winter run predator proof.

One day in the hutch and little Jody is out running around with the others! Now I have another going broody, I think. She was in and out yesterday. Mostly, in the coop. I noticed her white feathers in the nesting area, but she never layed an egg. This morning she came out to eat some snacks and went right back in. I put her in the hutch and she is not happy. Hoping that she is just being broody also.
