Ok I have this White chick in my MMM bunch that I thought was probably a Sultan being that it doesn't have black skin, legs, beak(is pink)...But it does have 5 toes, pump knot, beard, everything else a silkie has all the way down to the feathers...Is there such a thing as a silkie Sultan?

I don't know guys this one has the 2 tiny horns started at the top of the comb, couldn't quite capture them though wouldn't be still enough...Someones Sultan roo may have been having evening visits with the Silkies.

Still keeping it as a pet though...Good conversation piece.

It's the feathers that are confusing me...even at 4 weeks they still look like the Silkies feathers.

Its probably a pet quality silkie. MM does not breed to type they just want to make a profit. It will be great as a pet but you can't show it (I doubt you would have though).

Nope wouldn't have shown it anyway...It has a little black feathering on each wing. So I guess that one wasn't a replacement after all. Plus I'm not even prepared to show yet we're newbies...I still have to read up on standards for breeds we have. I might let our son show our Ancona at the state fair this year though if her flight feathers grow back in time. She is beautiful and speckled and even has the droopy comb and specks on legs at only 3 1/2 months old, and maybe our porcelain dutch pullet(can't mess those up).

looks like it will be a pea type comb right now...and it is still pale pinkish.

Silkie feathering can pop up in any breed and it is also possible for them to cross breed. Cross breeding is certainly more likely than spontaneous silkie-ness

I'd say, since its from MM, it's a pure silkie, just a very poor representation of the breed. An f1 cross breeding would result in 100% smooth feathered birds, they'd then need to br bred to another f1 cross or back to a silkie to get the silkie feathering.
