Silkie Thread! Talk about your Silkies and post pics of your Silkies

Well it depends on how old they are. Are they chicks or older looking birds(larger) ? Can't tell the sexes of young birds (unless you are one of those rare few who has "special" ways that only seem to work for you

But you can make educated guesses with some when they are young and get lucky

If they are older.....i will just wait for you to post their age before I, and many others, get into telling the sexes of older birds....

SilkieTime- I have 2 silkie chicks that supposedly come from a BBS pen as well from someone on BYC (I bought them as chicks from someone who bought the eggs off someone on here - so I have no idea who or what the circumstances/backgrounds are) BUT they looked EXACTLY like your guys do! Very blue/silverish with the chipmunk stripe going on....So far they are about 4 weeks old I guess and they are getting black and blue feathering...i would LOVE to see your mature along, I will try and get pictures of mine once I finish my mini pen for them up at my house (I have them at neighbors with his chicks in his outdoor brooder right now )

Here are recent pics of mine. They all crowded up for a pic while one was all alone at the lunch buffet table. lol

I would like to know, how old must be a silkie chick, to know what colour of it earlobe will be? some I've seen had vibrant blue ones at 4 month of age, some had white, some non colour at all at nearly 6 months..I'm new to silkies, so I would like to know what I have to watch for buying them.

I"d like to know if these toes are right to be able to show them. Could somebody let me know please. I had just watered them and they have some wood shavings in their feathers. I was trying to hold the little wigglers and take a pic at the same time.

Also, I finally got a good pic of this fella. Is this called a black splash? He actually has more white flecks than what shows in the picture but I finally got it to show.
