Silkie thread!

I am wondering how do you know if you have pure bred silkies. mine were given too me but they aren't as fluffy around the eyes as most of them are. The rooster has red cone and red whatever you call it on his face. I call it his ears and then two of the hens have blue on their side of their face. How would I know if I ever got a pure bread. My hens have hatched out 9 babies in a period of several days and there is another one under the hen now but it was still wet so had too leave it till morning. I don't have a run and such so I am bringing the babies in the house so that I can feed and water them. They seem too be happy. Seems like two of the hens have been setting for over a month. What should I do? I don't think they should all 3 be sitting there hatching an egg every two or three days. Any info will be appreciated.

Hi I would like to hang around the silkies thread for a while. I tried to hatch some silkie eggs, without any luck. So I ordered from McMurray Hatchery and received 27 live ones, they are a joy! They are 2 weeks old now, and look kind of ragged with their wing feathers, you can see through their fluff, their black skin makes them look dirty. I have had chickens for about 6 months now, My daughter gave me four BR's to start with, then two of my brothers gave me 6 Partridge Cochins bantams for my birthday, so I am hooked. Got the incubator and all. Started reading BYC forum. My brother is helping me build a new coop out of shipping pallets for my silkies. I would like to keep up with your thread, to learn all I can about the the little guys. They have so much energy, they run and play all the time, (chickens games). I could sure use Silkie Tips! Later help to identify the free Rare Exotic Chick they gave me. What a clown.

Can you tell if a silkie chick is a boy or a girl? Some seem to have puffier heads than others.
