I live in the snowy mountains of colorado. a friend of mine told me i shouldn't get silkies because the feathers on their feet will freeze. anybody out there having no problemo with silkies in the snow?

I bought a black lav split Silkie hen from AHappychick, and I also got 2 lav Silkie roos. My question is can I get another black Silkie to breed with them and would they have any lav babies?? or does it have to be a black lav split??
