Silkie thread!

Is there something they really love like scrambled eggs? If so, mix in a small amount of yogurt at a time until they get the idea. Hope they get better quick!

I would not just sprinkle feed on top, but thoroughly mix together, and use coop cups or other feeders that are not on the floor. You might try holding one, opening its beak and putting a bit of the mixture on its tongue. Once one tries, it, they all will.

OH! Great idea about not being on the floor! Okay, I don't have those cups, but I've seen them and I will go buy one! That would fit perfectly on the wire of their pen. Wow, sometimes it takes someone else to spark a great thought. Thank you!

Since they weren't doing any better today-- but no worse... I did take one to the vet this morning. Lungs are clear, but it looks like a upper respiratory infection. I brought home a bottle of Baytril and lots of syringes. So, hopefully we'll kick this quick. I'll be sure to mix the yogurt and crumbles well. I didn't think of that. My brain is just not functioning-- I've been stressed.

I'll try to dip their beaks, too. They HATE me dipping their beaks. But maybe if they get a taste of it. Sigh.

Baytril will knock it out quickly. As long as they are eating and drinking, I would give the antibiotic as the vet instructed and keep offering the yogurt and don't worry too much. Sounds like you have it under control.

Thanks, I hope the Baytril works fast too! I'm excited to finally feel like I'm doing something right, now. I just ran to my farm store and bought a couple of those cage cups that hook onto the wire. They had all sorts of sizes, so I got a pretty big one- but not the largest. What a neat idea! I already hung it up and dumped food in it. No more walking in it!

I needed horse feed anyway- so it's not like I made a trip special just for that. But I think I'm all set up now.
