Silkie thread!

Summer98- My cockerels are sweeter than any other bird I have! They love to be held and snuggled. Awesome! However... my oldest crows non-stop.

I don't mind in the least, but he sure loves to hear himself.

Okay- question, I'm using pine shavings in my silkie pen, and does anyone know if they are very sensitive to these shavings? My vet suggested it could be why they are sneezing. Thoughts or opinions on this? (they are already on Baytril--don't worry, I'm taking care of them) But just wondered if anyone has had problems specifically with Silkies and pine shavings. My other birds have never had an issue.

You will not be sorry you bought silkies but they are extremely addicting! Be prepared to expand you coops and runs!

Only if one is a Dominant White silkie. Good luck finding one, they are usually only found in Europe.

If it was as simple as finding a Dominant White Silkie there should be much more paints.
You have to know Co-Dominance not excist in color-genes.
The Black Silkie have the Dominant Black color-gene , the Dominant White Silkie have the Dominant White color-gene.
Which one shall express when you cross these both ? The Dominant white color-gene shall express !
The paint Silkies that have these black spots are not yet completely genetically explained .
An option is that the gene mottled is involved !!
