Silkie thread!

This chick is 2 weeks old. It is from a blue roo and splash hen. I noticed a couple of days ago that it has white wing
feathers growing in on both sides. What does that mean color wise? Thanks!
Opps!

Could you explain to me what is "4-H project" ? Thanks.

Oh of course! It's a club for kids that gets them involved in working with projects that really enrich their life later on. They can participate in many different areas-- like Aerospace/rocketery, Photography, citizenship skills, textiles--like sewing and quilting, Fashion, Cooking/baking, and the list goes on and on! Among those projects are animals like Poultry (any breed--just breed for standard), Swine (pigs), Meat Goats, Milking goats, horsemanship and on and on... Anyway, I signed my son up for this club and we enrolled in a few projects. The club gives you a book that tells you how to go about your project and you keep records, pictures, reports, etc.. But when we go to club meetings, the kids have a great time and it's the parents sitting in the back talking about their "child's" breeding program that the PARENT is working so hard on. Just had to laugh, because it seems like we stress over all the back end of it and the kids get to do the fun stuff.

Thanks for the explanation. I never heard of this term in Europe.

Silver Silkie did yours turn out to mature as a white?

Peepblessed's chick definitely has blue wing feathers in as well, so with it coming from a Blue X splash mating it looks like it might just be a dark based splash or using my own term "reserve" splash. Since 'regular' splash is light base with dark splashing/markings.

Yes, completely white. This is what is called (in EU) Super white.
This means one gene reinforces the other gene.

The genetic-code is E/E S/S * S/- Bl/Bl c/c.
S/S = Silver => look as white
Bl/Bl = Splash => look as (dirty) white
c/c = recessive white => is just colorless = white

Is what I do on my Silver-project for Silkies, switching from based on gold to based on Silver and this on as many possible "gound-colors" and "diluters" as possible.

@ sager:)silkies : this is what I intended with made calculations in front towards a postulated goal. Took a few generations (4) to arrive on that goal is what I intended with patience.
